Very close to nature
Our water holiday world in Lauterbach is located in a very special region: the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve. Under the protection of UNESCO, biosphere reserves are model regions in which a harmonious relationship between people and natural resources is developed. The reserve was founded in 1990 and, in addition to beautiful nature, also offers numerous cultural treasures, such as Bronze Age burial mounds. As a particularly environmentally friendly company in the biosphere reserve, we were certified as a biosphere partner in 2011. When you visit us for the first time, you will immediately understand why we want to protect this unique landscape.
Nature has given us numerous unique spots on Rügen: the breathtaking chalk cliffs, the idyllic island of Vilm and a rich flora and fauna. In short: a nature experience for visitors of all ages! By the way: four-legged guests are also more than welcome! Around our water holiday world you will find beautiful paths for relaxed walks with your dog.
destinations for nature lovers
Here are our recommendations for particularly beautiful tours through the wonderful natural scenery of the island - just smell the sea breeze, set off and enjoy!

Behind the small village church in Groß Zicker you will find the first paths up into the gently rolling moraine landscape, where the many small paths lead through the hilly landscape grazed by countless sheep. At a height of around 66 metres above the coast, you can see the Bodden to the south and also glimpse the Baltic Sea behind the strip of forest along the coast.
The island of Ummanz, which borders the island of Rügen in the west and is only separated from it by a small bridge, belongs to the Western Pomeranian Lagoon Area National Park and is one of the most important resting places for cranes in Europe. Hundreds of animals rest here before they move on to their winter quarters. This is the best time to observe the grey-feathered birds.
The Tankow observation platform in the north-east offers a good view of the resting places of the “birds of happiness”.
